Message from Hercules
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
When work relationships are going well – energy is typically high and results are great. Even if there are a few bumps in the road – healthy relationships know how to navigate the bumps with clarity, accountability, honesty and possibility.
That’s when the people side of leadership is ‘easy’ (big quotations around that word!).
But when those relationships are more difficult (tough conversations, tension, lack of clarity, absence of understanding, minimal empathy, etc.) – the people stuff feels heavy and hard.
It breeds a level of frustration, avoidance and “I just want to give up” in leaders.
I know this to be true because 1) I’ve been there several times and 2) I observe it and coach on it. A lot.
I would like to offer this little lyrical nugget from the song, “Go the Distance”, sung by Hercules himself in the 1997 Disney animated feature, Hercules.
Enter self-awareness, confidence and connection.
I know that even surface level understanding of yourself (your style, communication preferences, perceptions, beliefs and barriers) AND understanding of others (their style, communication preferences and experiences) makes a difference in all the right ways.
The deeper you’re willing to go – the more magical the impact and results will be.
But you have to be willing to put in the time. To get uncomfortable. To believe it’s a priority. To lean into the uncertainty and trust what’s on the other side.
It might sound like a big ask, but is the flip side (tension, frustration, disengagement, poor results, broken relationships) more appealing?
I venture to guess the answer is no.
And…every mile of going down this path will very much bevworth your while.
You with me?
What is one relationship or situation you would like to see improvement in that you’re willing to go deep with? One is the next best step you can take?
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
