Message from Walt Disney
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).
original message date: 08/29/22
Happy Monday!
I don’t know about you – but even though I keep getting older and adding to my bucket of experience (and dare I say…. life wisdom?), I sometimes feel like I’m still the same younger version of myself from 35 years ago.
This quote from Walt Disney hits me a little differently right now than it used to:
It might be because my oldest is heading to high school this year. It’s a time that I distinctly remember. It’s like I can tap into the thoughts I had then and compare them to the thoughts I have now – all in an instant.
Has this happened to you? Maybe you are dropping your child off at college this year and the dorms bring you right back to your college days. Maybe you are now a mentor at your organization and remember just starting in your career like it was yesterday.
Our brain works in mysterious ways.
So – here is my simple thought for this week: Our lives are constantly evolving and continually being shaped by new experiences, shifts in perspective and lessons learned. We go through amazing times and we trudge through the hard stuff. We get inundated with the less-than-pleasant news of the world around us and we witness smalls acts of kindness right in our own ‘backyard’.
We can allow all of this to bury the younger versions of ourselves – or we can use it to enhance who we’ve always been at the core.
The challenge is to tap into the you from a time when you felt innocent joy, let your imagination have no boundaries and had big, bold dreams for yourself.
There is a lot to learn from that person and there is a lot of life yet to live – regardless of your age or established career path.
There is always room for laughter, imagination and dreams.
Write a down what you remember from a younger version of yourself. What made you laugh? How did imagination play a role in your life? What were your dreams? Now decide how can you bring more of this to the current version of you.
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
