Message from Walt Disney
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).
original message date: 05/15/23
Happy Monday!
If you listen to my podcast (The Practically Perfect Leader) – you know I end every episode with a nod to Mary Poppins by saying “Everything is possible. Even the impossible.”
I believe that to be true. The impossible is only impossible because you haven’t done it yet!
Walt Disney had such an empowering approach to the impossible. Here is one of his quotes:
Walt didn’t let the fact that something hadn’t been done yet stop him. In fact – that drove him. He had a vision and he figured it out. He ran into lots of obstacles yet continued on (thank goodness – otherwise we may not have Mickey Mouse today!).
When Walt set out to build Disneyland – there were already amusement parks in existence. But those parks were nothing compared to what he had in mind.
What he envisioned may have seemed impossible, but only because there was nothing like it yet. From his perspective – that meant less competition. He could create something that no other had and that aligned with his vision.
Without that mindset – we may not have Disneyland and all that came after. I believe that it all came down to the thoughts he chose to think. He didn’t see ‘impossible’ as a reason to stop. He saw it as a reason to go.
What do you make ‘impossible’ mean when it comes to your goals and dreams?
Do you make it mean you can never get there and give up? Or do you make it mean there’s an amazing opportunity to figure it out and get to work?
Your thought is a choice. Isn’t that the best news!?
Thanks, Walt – for being an example of what is possible.
What is your definition of impossible? Does that definition hinder you or propel you? How can you tweak your thinking in a way that serves the future version of you?
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
