Message from Walt Disney

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 06/05/23

Happy Monday!

We are in full swing of spring and summer sports.  In my house – that means baseball for my son and soccer for my daughter.  Regardless of the crazy schedule – it’s so much fun!

It’s always interesting to be the bystander watching how the kids react to losses.  And both have seen plenty this season.  Losses can be tough.   They are a type of failure.  They practice, prep, train, sweat – and the result is not what they expect or hope for.

This is true for most things in life – including your work, career, relationships, etc.

Here is what Walt Disney had to say:

Clearly “kick in the teeth” is a metaphor for being disappointed.   It really can be difficult to see how the disappointment of failure could actually be the best thing for you – especially when you are in the thick of it!

But it really is true.

It’s where you learn where to push yourself, see where adjustments would be helpful, test your own resilience, prove to yourself that you can innovate, create and grow more than you ever thought you could.

Of course, if you decide to give up, you may never know what truly is possible.

So, process the disappointment and frustration.   And then decide what you want to do next.

Hang up the cleats or wear them out even more to get the win?

What recent failure have you experienced? How can you learn and grow from that failure and turn it into a success?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
