Message from Jack Skellington

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 12/13/21

Happy Monday!

One thing I’ve personally been working on is the idea of making the impossible possible (it was also the focus of last week’s Magic Monday message!).

It has been such a fun ride watching my own brain start to shift!

I love how applicable this quote from Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is in this work I’ve been doing:

This, of course, feels like a very familiar conversation that took place in our Christmas-celebrating house only a few years ago. My kids had reached the age when they had all kinds of questions about the existence of Santa Clause. My husband and I explained that even though they didn’t see him coming down our chimney or we couldn’t visit the actual North Pole – it didn’t mean that Santa didn’t exist. We told them that they got to choose what they believed to be true. They learned that as long as they believed – their experience was all the more magical.

This is true when it comes to our own goals and dreams that don’t seem possible. If we choose to believe that we can’t accomplish them – it is more likely that we won’t. It's understandable that when we haven’t ‘done the thing’ yet – it’s hard to believe it is possible because our brain searches for evidence and certainty. Yet that evidence won’t be there because we haven’t done it yet!

In order for us to do the impossible, we need to start with believing.

Believing in ourselves. Believing in our abilities. Believing in the thing we are supposed to do.

Believing is a choice. That choice will drive our energy, our actions and ultimately, our results.

Just because you can’t see the impossible yet doesn’t mean you can’t choose to wholeheartedly believe that it can be yours.

So tell me, what do you choose?

Think about something you would like to accomplish in the coming year that you don’t quite yet believe you can do. Write down all of the thoughts about it that your brain is offering you. Review each item you wrote down and challenge them. Is it really true? Is it a thought that holds you back or moves you forward? How can you shift the barrier thoughts into ones that move you toward your impossible goal?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
