Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
This week, I’m pulling out a quote from one of the amazing Disney songs that are chock-full of wisdom. Each year for my ‘word of the year’, I create a song playlist that represents my word. My playlist always includes a Disney song or two. For my 2023 word, amplify, I’ve included the song “Show Yourself” sung by Elsa (Idina Menzel) from the film Frozen 2.
Here is the simple line I want to share with you:
Many of the people I work with (including leaders…and myself) tend to ‘hide’ a bit of who they are. When we dig into it – there can be several contributing factors. Sometimes it’s personality style. Sometimes it’s self-doubt or imposter syndrome. Sometimes it’s a bit of “Minnesota Nice”. Often, it’s a combination of all the above (plus more).
The result is always the same. A feeling of dissatisfaction and unfulfillment with a possible side of buffering behaviors.
We also deprive ourselves and the rest of the world from our full gifts, talents and contributions.
It’s a lose-lose.
Knowing that you are never going to be for everyone (and it’s okay to let them be wrong about you!) – show yourself for those who need who you really are. Let them see.Let yourself see.
That, my friend, is a win-win.
