WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
Here in Minnesota, our summer-like weather came and went pretty quickly – I guess the snow wasn’t ready to say goodbye!
The weather can be a form of proof that life is 50/50. 50% ‘good’ and 50% ‘not-so-good’. Of course, it’s all subjective and based on each individual’s perception, preferences and experience. This is true of most things in life!
This quote speaks to this well. As Meilin Lee from the 2022 Disney Pixar film, “Turning Red”, experiences the rollercoaster of adolescence – her father says this to her:
Often times people, especially in work and entrepreneurship settings, try to show up as someone who “has it all together”. You want to appear as the confident one. The one who can get the job done, show others that you are worthy and who can take on the world.
There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that – as long as it’s not at the expense of you as a whole person. Because if you try to live up to all of the “good” – you are more likely to ignore, avoid or resist the “not-so-good”. And that comes with all kinds of unhelpful side effects.
When you can acknowledge that all of us – every single human – experiences the 50/50 – the pressure can be released on trying to live up to some unrealistic version of yourself.
And when you, as a leader, model embracing your whole humanness – others will see. You just might help create others’ own self-empowerment to do the same.
So when the messy sides show up, don’t push them away. Do the work to create awareness, process and/or take intentional steps to shift.
You’ll be all the better for it. I promise.
Work to embrace the concept that life is 50/50. Give the not-so-good 50 the airtime it deserves.
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
