In this episode - we talk about a tool called the Satisfaction Snapshot (download it for free here). You may have seen it called the Wheel of Life.

It is a simple but powerful tool that helps you visualize all the important areas of your life at once. It is often used by life coaches and career coaches to give their clients a "bird's eye" view of their lives.

It is powerful because it gives you a vivid visual representation of the way your life is currently, compared with the way you'd ideally like it to be. Each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spoke of a wheel.

This snapshot gives you a high level look at where to focus based on current satisfaction in the areas of your general life, occupation and/or with your work team.

The simple act of bringing awareness to how you feel about the different aspects of your life and/or work can be powerful in itself - giving you the power to dig in deeper and take steps toward the results you deserve.

It’s a way to get out of your own brain and take an objective look – creating a starting point to focus on.

How to Use the Satisfaction Snapshot

After you download the PDF - decide which version to complete. Look at the 8 areas on the wheel. Replace any ‘labels’ as necessary.

Assess each of the 8 areas - giving them a satisfaction rating of 1 - 10 (1 being very dissatisfied, 10 being very satisfied).

You should have a good visual of your satisfaction.

The Three Versions

General Life: Use this to check-in on the major areas of your life as a whole

Occupation: Use this to assess your satisfaction with your current role and/or profession. This can also be used with your employees for a quick engagement check-in!

Work Team: Use this to assess the dynamics and effectiveness of your team. This can also be used to assess your own leadership capabilities as it pertains to the team.

What to Do Next

Now it’s time to make a plan and take action!

Start by looking at all of your ratings and ask yourself:  What would it take to get this to a 10?  What would need to be different?  What would I need to do?

Then - set a goal and get to work!

What do you think?

  • Do you regularly check in on your satisfaction?

  • Whose support do you need along the way?
