Happy Monday!
I am obsessed with the Olympics this summer! Are you? Of course, I enjoy the sports, the competition and the togetherness.
But what I really get obsessed with is the stories of the athletes.
A common theme in the part of their stories that is shared with us is about obstacles they have overcome (no different than most of us non-Olympians!). There are a variety of obstacles, including ones that show up in the form of other people’s opinions, voices and expectations.
It reminds me of this quote by Wade from the 2023 Disney / Pixar film, “Elemental”:
It is likely true that we all have external influences that have thoughts about our life path. Not all of them are distinct enough to make us second guess ourselves – but some might be.
And then there are the things we have adopted from society, upbringing and experiences – some of which could be subconscious – but still impact our decisions.
Getting advice, seeking inspiration and learning from others certainly can be helpful...
...as long as your actions align with what you really believe and want.
