WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 09/09/24

Happy Monday!

One thing about me is that I’m a planner.  Now – I’ve really loosed my grip on knowing what to expect since diving deep into the self-awareness and coaching world…but I still like to map out my days….and my life in general.

Of course, things don’t always go as planned.  Reactions to that can really test the mindset work!  It’s easy for defeat or disappointment to kick in.

But as we know, our response is a choice.

I thought this recent quote I heard from former Disney Imagineer and recently anointed Disney Legend, Joe Rohde, was an interesting perspective:

At first glance, it may seem like this is just about avoiding the predictable, but I think it goes much deeper.

In life (and leadership), there’s a constant pull to follow plans, to stay on course, and to check off boxes.

But if we only ever did what we thought we were going to do, we'd miss out on some of the most impactful and exciting moments.

This quote speaks to the power of embracing change and uncertainty.

In my own life, some of the most rewarding experiences have come from unexpected detours—whether in personal growth, new opportunities, or leadership challenges that tested my adaptability (I mean - I never had owning my own business in the plan!!).  Sometimes, it's the unplanned events that offer the richest learning moments.  That isn’t always obvious at the time – but it proves to be true with time.

I believe it’s a gift when we lean into these moments. When we encourage flexibility, innovation, and creativity in our lives (and in the lives of those around us), we unlock potential that a rigid plan may have overlooked.

It’s about trusting the process and being open to what comes, even if it doesn’t fit within the original blueprint.

Take it from a planner like me - - - your path can be a lot more fun and fulfilling when you go with it!

The next time life or work doesn’t go according to plan, consider it an invitation to explore something new. How can the unexpected become an exciting opportunity?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
