Message from Santa Claus + Scott Calvin
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).
original message date: 12/19/22
Happy Monday!
I love watching all the holiday movies this time of year! One of my very top, very favorite holiday movies is Disney’s 1994 film - “The Santa Clause” (with parts 2 and 3 close behind). So, when Disney+ continued the story by releasing the 6-episode series this year called “The Santa Clauses”, I was so excited!
There was a particular moment between a young Scott Calvin and Santa Claus in episode 5 that was special – I knew I needed to share the quote:
We often look for external signs and validation from others before we can really believe in ourselves.
→ I’ll know I’m a good leader when my organization recognizes me.
→ I’ll know I’m worthy of a promotion when my boss asks me to step up.
→ I’ll know I’m ready to take the leap when others seem interested enough in what I have to give.
→ I’ll know my message is good when I get ‘enough’ hearts and likes on my posts.
It is not the job of others to make you believe in yourself. That responsibility is yours.
And when you quiet the external noise – really sit still with yourself and take notice – you will hear your own whisper. It might be your own voice in your head or it might be a sensation in your body, like the butterflies you feel with a certain thought.
That whisper knows you. It is the foundation of which to build belief – even if you don’t have that external “proof” yet.
I know external validation is helpful and you can still relish in that. You should. But that is simply the cherry on top. It’s the biproduct of you showing up in full belief first.
Take responsibility to create your own belief and the evidence to support it will show up.
😉 And the fact that I believe in you - - that’s just me cheering from the sidelines. You are the one creating the magic.
Where are you looking outside of yourself for proof that you are worthy? How can you create self-belief instead?
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
