Message from Mariachi

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 12/12/22

Happy Monday!

On a recent business trip flight, I watched the Disney Pixar film, Coco.  I forgot how much I love the animation, colors, music and message of that movie!

As the main character, Miguel, is sharing both his dream and fear of becoming a musician to a random shoe-shining Mariachi, the Mariachi says to him:

(de la Cruz was a musician that Miguel very much looked up to and wanted to emulate)

I couldn’t help but think about how many of us do this.  We don’t go for the promotion, leave the unfulfilling job or ask for the well-deserved raise (to give a few examples).

Instead, we get stopped by the fear of the unknown, a lack of self-confidence or the absence of the immediate “how”.

There are two significant impacts of this:

  •  You don’t create the results you most want.  You sit in the comfortable (or is it really uncomfortable?).   You settle.
  •  The world misses out on the great gifts you have to share.

Who is winning in this situation?  Only your fear and doubt.

What if you walked right onto your version of the plaza and played out loud?

Are you willing to find out?

Send me a note – let me know how it goes.I’d love to listen.

What gifts are you not sharing because of fear and/or doubt? What one next best step can you take to 'play out loud'?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
