Message from Olaf

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!

One of my favorite topics to talk to leaders (and others) about is change. It’s such an interesting concept. Some people thrive on change, others fear it and then some are neutral about it (they can take it or leave it). But regardless of how we feel about it – it is always happening. As it should.

In the movie Frozen 2 – while lying on a picnic blanket in the sun, Olaf is talking to Ana about how he is living the dream and how he wishes this could last forever when a leaf from a tree that has turned red (an indication of Fall) lands in front of him.

He then says, “And yet….

What I love most about Olaf’s sentiment is he chooses to see the beauty in the change. He could have chosen to see it as a leaf on its way to turning brown, brittle and being destroyed (a little dramatic?).

Yet, he shows us that we all have the power to choose our thoughts.

• It doesn’t mean that the change might not be hard. Acknowledge that.

• It doesn’t mean that there won't be some letting go and/or loss with the change. Acknowledge and process that.

• It doesn’t mean that there won’t be uncomfortable feelings associated with the change. Feel and process them.

AND…

...choose to see where there is beauty in the change.

At first, it might be difficult to do and even hard to believe – but if you keep a focused thought on the (potential) beauty – it will continue to reveal itself more and more.

By choosing to see the beauty – we will approach the change with an energy that pushes us forward instead of holding us back.

Doesn’t that sound like the better choice?

What change are you working through right now? What are the positive and valuable things showing themselves because of the change?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
