Message from Kermit the Frog
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
Last week, I wrapped up a leadership development program with a group of senior leaders. It was full of skill-building, business-driving and communication-elevating components. Toward the end – we spent some time on mindset. Not the sprinkle-yourself-with-positive-affirmations kind. More like the understand-your-brain-and-take-control kind.
With this week’s quote – we get a little dose of that from Kermit the Frog:
“Never worry about failure” might feel like a bit of a stretch. But this I know - our leadership (and life) is going to be 50/50. We’ll have things that work and plans that succeed. And there will also be times when things go off the rails and we fail.
The mindset around the failure matters. I’m not saying you should never be bummed, disappointed or upset. Those are real and valid feelings.
But then what?
Because we actually need the fails to fully realize the successes.
So, it’s what you think about failure that the difference is made – along with what you think about yourself in relation to the failure.
Your thoughts are going to drive what do or don’t do next. And that, my friend, is a choice. Will you have thoughts that stop you or inspire you?
I love having this conversation with the leaders I work with – like the group last week. Because when they start to see how not doing something because of the fear of failure simply is deciding to fail ahead of time – mindsets start to shift. When they understand that swimming in the yuck of the failure experience will keep them from moving forward and from inspiring others – behaviors start to change.
If you don’t believe me – then follow the words of the very wise Kermit the Frog.
Take the chance – choose the thoughts.
Thinking back on a recent fail – what thoughts did you have about it? What thoughts did you have about yourself in relation to that fail? Where they helpful or hurtful to you?
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
