Message from Frigga

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 10/24/22

Happy Monday!

I continue to learn so much as I work with leaders (and people in general) on increasing their self-awareness to create the results they are looking for.  People generally love to learn about themselves.  But sometimes they don’t love what they learn!

Before I explain - take in this message from Thor’s mother, Frigga, that she shares in the Marvel movie, Avengers: End Game:

There tends to be two common barriers that emerge with people who have trouble owning certain things about themselves (there are more than two – but these are the most common with the people I work with):

  • Dissonance between innate characteristics and an attempt to embody who they think others think they should be

  • Trouble with shifting identity, often around “mid-life”, when they are so tied to who they have been up to this point in their life (usually based on things like roles they’ve held, education they’ve completed, etc.)

Both barriers cause the person to hide, resist or avoid parts of who they are.  These actions lead to things like disengagement, internal beating up of self, dissatisfaction and taking on buffering behaviors.

When you own who you are – you unleash freedom.

✨ Freedom to be you without letting anything external ruffle you.

✨ Freedom to be intentional about making changes for reasons you like - from a clean place.

✨ Freedom to get curious and reveal blind spots.

✨ Freedom to truly understand how others perceive you – without judgment.

✨ Freedom to live big.

YOU are your own hero.

That type of success is worth measuring yourself against.

Thanks, Frigga.  Moms always know best, right?

Are there parts of you that you don’t fully own? Do you like your reasons? How can you challenge your thoughts and create a shift in how you think about it?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
