WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!

I love the work that I do with leaders.  If you are in a leadership role, you know that it isn’t for the faint of heart.  And – in our world that increasingly appears to have a mindset of “this or that” and “right or wrong” – it can be a real challenge to confidently live in the gray.

That’s why I feel like this quote from Raya from Disney’s Raya and The Last Dragon is really quite important.

This simple line highlights two often-overlooked strengths: vulnerability and the willingness to ask for help.

Yes, I said strengths.  Not woo-woo.  Not “soft”.  Not weak.  Not passive.

Strengths.

As humans (especially as leaders), we’re often expected to have all the answers.  We should be able to create a path forward without stumbling. But the truth is, nobody is fail-safe. Mistakes are inevitable. What sets great humans and leaders apart is not their ability to avoid errors, but their courage to own them and seek support when needed.

Admitting to mistakes does not make you weak or less-than.  It demonstrates your integrity, honesty, vulnerability and humanity.  It also matters because it shows authenticity and builds trust.  It demonstrates a growth mindset – inspiring others to do the same.  And it deepens connections.  We know that connections are everything.

The same is true when asking for help.  I’ve always struggled with this.  Some might struggle with asking for help because of the fear it makes them appear that they are lacking confidence.  For me - I don’t want to be a burden on others.

Let’s be clear – asking for assistance isn’t a sign of weakness -  it’s a sign of strength. It's not being a burden – it's giving others the opportunity to be helpful and show that you value their expertise and perspectives.

Life (and leadership) isn’t about being perfect - it’s about being real. You may be surprised at how this simple act of vulnerability can transform your relationships, strengthen your presence, and build trust.

The next time you find yourself faced with a mistake - take a deep breath, own up to it, and ask for help.

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
