Message from Heimlich
WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT
Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).
original message date: 03/04/24
Happy Monday!
It’s human nature to want to be and/or have something different than what we are and/or have right now. Evolution and change can be a beautiful thing! Where we can get caught up is when we think it will be better there than it is here.
Heimlich, who is a [somewhat gluttonous] caterpillar in the 1998 Pixar film, “A Bug’s Life” thought that very thing when he said this:
You know I’m all about imagining the possibilities and taking action to create those results, right? It’s the thoughts that fuels those actions that really can impact how you experience the results once you get there.
Thoughts like:
→ Once I get that position, then I’ll be successful.
→ Someday I’ll know enough, then I’ll be able to use my voice.
→ When I lose that weight, then I can go on the trip.
→ As soon as I make more money, then I’ll take time to take care of myself.
Are you picking up on the theme? “Good” is outside of my current state. It’s over there, not here.
The energy of those thoughts typically come from a place of lack (lack of self-worth, self-belief, self-confidence) and discontent (with yourself).
And it’s true – it actually might be better there! At least in some ways and for a little while. But the lack will come with you. The discontent will follow.
What would it be like if you didn’t need to wait until you got ‘there’ for things to be better? Find the satisfaction in the now – and your energy to get there will be more useful. It won’t be desperate. It will be with less expectation. You won’t have to rely on ‘someday’.
You can’t go wrong. And you can still become the beautiful butterfly.
In what area are you waiting to be happy until you get ‘there’? How can you find satisfaction ‘here’ – right now?
Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
