Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
Whenever I’m asked the question “What is your favorite Disney movie?” – I simply can’t answer. I’m not good at choosing ‘favorites’ for most anything. This probably speaks to my “everyone / everything has its’ own unique attributes that contribute in their own unique ways!” belief…
The animated film, “Encanto” is definitely in that mix of I-love-it-for-so-many-reasons movies.
Toward the end of the movie, Bruno (the one we don’t talk about) said the following to Mirabel as she was just figuring out what her gifts to the family (and the world) are:
What Mirabel was doing is what so many of us do.
✨ We look at what others can do and make it mean that we are less than.
✨ We seek validation from family, friends, bosses, and society – hoping they will ‘approve’ of who we are.
✨ We take action based on what we think others want from us.
✨ We operate from our ‘monkey brain’, seeking quick wins so we can be seen.
✨ We get so focused on the external – we don’t spend time on the internal.
But what if exactly who you are right now – your strengths and blind spots, your passions and dreams, your bumps and bruises, your gifts and greatness – is all you need?
When you settle into that – living in self-belief and self-trust – you won’t get ruffled by the external.
You will be more willing to let the world see you for who you are.
And that’s the real gift.
