Message from Ariel

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 11/15/21

Happy Monday!

One of the many topics my coaching clients and I spend a lot of time is goals. I wholeheartedly believe that creating and moving toward goals is necessary in creating a life we love. But I’ve also noticed that when the word ‘dreams’ comes up – there is a shift in energy and a shift in approach.

Both my observation and this quote from Ariel (The Little Mermaid) has fired up my curiosity about ‘goals’ vs. ‘dreams’:

Maybe it’s just me – but in my experience, goals are met with structured action and a sense of attainability while dreams are met with lofty thoughts and a sense of “it would be nice, but…”

Believable vs. fantasy.

Yet – when comparing the definitions – they aren’t that far off from each other:

Goals: the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.

Dreams: a cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal.

They are both ambitions and they both have an aim for a desired result/ideal.

The sense of accomplishment when reaching a goal definitely feels good and hopefully moves the needle in whatever you are doing.

But dreams…those are what reflect what you REALLY want in your life.

And they deserve the same (or greater) attention and belief as goals.

Dreams aren’t meant to be only aspirational.

They are meant to come true.

So ask yourself – who says your dreams have to stay your dreams?

Do you think about goals and dreams separately? If so – why? What new thought can you adopt to shift your mindset and start making your dreams a reality?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
