Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

Happy Monday!
In the 250 Mondays that I’ve sent a Magic Monday message – I haven’t yet sent this week’s quote. Maybe it’s because it feels a little heavy (kind of like the movie it comes from). Still, even though it may sound harsh at first, the message is incredibly relevant for today – especially for leaders.
Here is the quote I’m referring to:
Why I think it is relevant and important is that it challenges us to look beyond our words and titles and examine the impact of our actions - especially on those who need our support the most. It invites us to pause and reflect:
If I say I want to be a leader and/or if I say I value integrity, fairness and excellence – do my actions align with what I claim? Do the people I lead feel seen, respected and supported? Am I leading through the lens of kindness, decency and human worth?
It’s easy to talk about leadership as a concept. To quote the latest book. To use the buzzwords.
But real leadership happens in the difficult and sometimes unseen moments.
It’s how you treat the person with the least power in the room. It’s how you respond when someone is vulnerable or disagrees with you. It’s whether people feel safe to speak up, take risks and be fully themselves.
Saying “people matter” and “I’ve got your back” only holds weight when it’s backed by action. Action like:
Creating psychological safety so people feel safe to speak honestly
Building trust through consistency, transparency, and empathy
Making decisions with the greater good in mind — not just what’s fastest or seemingly the easiest
Owning your missteps and being willing to course-correct…not blame others
Leadership is human work.
Because at the end of the day, people will remember less of what you said, and more about how you made them feel.
Choose one small way to lead with integrity this week—especially when no one’s watching.
