Message from Cinderella

WELCOME TO THIS MAGIC MONDAY MOMENT

Kicking off your week with some thoughts around a favorite Disney quote (because in my world - Disney is life!).

original message date: 01/20/25

Happy Monday!

I don’t know if it’s because we are in the midst of frigid temps in Minnesota, or I want a little shelter from the less-than-positive happenings in the world – but I felt compelled to look up the dictionary definition of “comfortable” (I have this weird love of literal definitions).

Here is what it means:  providing physical ease and relaxation.

Doesn't that just sound cozy?  Like a warm hug (I’m looking at you, Olaf!)?

Comfort is great in some situations.  But it also can be a problem.  This quote from the 2015 live action film, Cinderella, is right on point:

Cinderella said this when she courageously challenged Prince Charming about norms that needed reevaluating.

Doing something just because that’s the way it’s always been done is often not a ‘good enough’ reason. Because with time comes new wisdom, new experiences, new innovations, new mindsets, changing needs and fresh perspectives.

Sure - It’s easy to follow established traditions, systems, or routines simply because they feel comfortable or familiar.  But people who want to reach their goals, make an impact and live a life that truly fulfills them need to challenge their own status quote and ask: “Is this still serving me?”.

The same is true for great leaders and changemakers.  It’s a necessary part of the formula.

For me – I have found that challenging my brain’s status quo of limiting beliefs has really been a game-changer.  It’s not always easy – but once I give myself permission to really challenge my thoughts (without judgement), I clear the path forward.

Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is question the norm.  By choosing what should be done, we unlock the potential for growth, innovation, and magic.

You in?

This week, take a moment to reflect: Is there something you’re doing simply out of habit or tradition that could be reimagined to better align with your goals and values?

Wishing you a wonderful week. You've got this!
